Governor of Georgia, 1999-2003
I have known Paul Shanor for almost a quarter of a century, and I know him to be bright, hard working and innovative in finding solutions to difficult problems. Over the years we have worked together on many issues including the difficult ones of physician choice, HMO liability and the intricacies of Medicaid reimbursement. Additionally, he was the guiding force in helping create an independent board of medical examiners for Georgia. What I am most impressed with about Paul is his ability to see both sides of an issue and his insight in how to strike the balance that improves the health of all Georgians. I am glad to count him as a resource and a friend in solving many issues in health care.
